A Poem-The Face of Hate

How are we to see through the eyes to the soul

Beyond the skin which covers their hearts

Where the seeds of hate are hidden

How are we to know which ones to fear

By the color of their of skin, or robes of their faith

Under flags that are flown, or the health of their minds

All blood bleeds red, all lives under one Sun

Bullets shred with no conscience or remorse

When we ask why, answers from God

Silence fills our ears, emptiness fills our hearts

Fading headlines will diminish memories of treasured souls

Sons or Orlando, Mothers of Blacksburg, Daughters of Newtown, Fathers of Charleston

Who is the face of hate, whose eyes will we gaze through

An original composition by the author of Ends and Beginnings

About ends and beginnings blog

I am a frustrated writer and poet waiting to be discovered. A stand-up philosopher performing on a street corner near you. A Christian with questions but I don’t want to hear your answers. A Buddhist with a bumper sticker on my truck to prove it. A collector of quotes. A grower of lettuce. The Patron Saint of earthworms who name their children after me. A cyclist whose big ass strains the seams of his Lycra bibs. I am American by birth, Southern by the grace of God. My goal in life is to leave an imprint on the lives of the people I love not a footprint on the earth. I am a son, a husband, a father composed of 65%-Oxygen, 18%-Carbon, 10%-Hydrogen, 3%-Nitrogen, 3%-Diet Coke and 1%-Oreo.

  1. Bexy Kinda says:

Hate is a sickness. Hate can be contained or contracted. Yet so I believe in the power of such a strong medicine called love. Not the love that takes, but that gives and in giving fills the universe again with hope against such ills. Sadness comes to us, shatters the peace for a moment by the actions of those that have hate as a companion. Poor wretched and sick. Beware the sickness that is hate, for it will kill and kill again!
