“No, you inherited a fortune. We elected a mess.”

“Don’t believe the main stream (fake news) media. The White House is running VERY WELL. I inherited a MESS and am in the process of fixing it.” – Donald J. Trump tweet 2-18-17

“No, you inherited a fortune. We elected a mess.” – Stephen Colbert

Have any of you wondered what MESS” our President inherited? Maybe it is just me, you know, a Democrat, a liberal that seems to think that President Barack Obama did a pretty damn good job with what he had to work with. And all those “Tea Party” rednecks and blue hairs who bitched and moaned about Obama Care, what are they doing now? That’s right, bitching and moaning because their “party” wants to “Fix It” as soon as they figure out what the “It” is to “Fix”.

Do you any of you remember what it was like eight years ago when Obama took over? They actually had a name for it, remember? It was called, cue the thunder, “THE GREAT RECESSION”. That’s right, “THE GREAT RECESSION”—which officially lasted from December 2007 to June 2009—began with the bursting of an 8 trillion-dollar housing bubble. The resulting loss of wealth led to sharp cutbacks in consumer spending. Do you remember these terms, To Big to Fail, sub-prime loans, shadow banking systems, bailouts, or how about these players Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, GM, Ford and Chrysler. That ladies and gentlemen is the definition of inheriting a mess.

And good old Barack Obama put his nose to the grindstone, passed up long weekends in Florida for golf and sun and slowly pieced it all back together again. He didn’t make excuses. He didn’t play the blame game because he knew pointing fingers wasn’t going to fix my problem or yours.

The Recovery Act was passed less than four weeks into President Obama’s first term, and the data shows its impact. The GDP was nose-diving in late 2008. But by mid-2009, it was growing again, up 2.6 percent in the second half of that year. The pace of job losses slowed, and what turned out to be the beginning of the longest streak of job growth on record, which continues to this day, began in late 2010. Of course President Trump has tried to take credit for that success as well; “Since November 8th, Election Day, the Stock Market has posted $3.2 trillion in GAINS and consumer confidence is at a 15 year high. Jobs!”.

I understand that Hillary Clinton was no Barack Obama. I get it. But good heavens, Donald Trump was the best thing the deplorables could find to replace him with keeping in mind that a lot of those same deplorables voted for Obama not once but twice? Yes you did, it’s okay to admit it.

  4. I lost my ass in 2009 thanks to 8 years of Bush, the wars, economic policies. I won’t be affected this time because I have nothing to lose. Janis Joplin, “freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose,” and baby, you ain’t nothing if you ain’t free. So, my friend, if you had a million bucks, would you be trusting Trump and putting it in the shock market?

  5. Real estate in 2009 was not a pleasant experience. I was flipping a house, lost 75% of value in 8 months. I decided to retire anyway. Poor as a church mouse, but happy

I’m sure you figured out by now that getting us out of the “Great Recession” didn’t have anything to do with Obama because, well, he was that black guy. Same reason the ACA is soooo bad. There’s just something about the color of one’s skin that prevents good things from happening. But a white rich narcissistic ex-TV star? Oh yes! He’ll undoubtedly put this country on the path to greatness … again. Just hide and watch.
