The Evangelicals deal with the devil

The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become a loaf of bread.” Jesus answered him, “It is written, One does not live by bread alone.” And the devil said to him, “To you I will give their glory and all this authority; for it has been given over to me, and I give it to anyone I please. If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.” Jesus answered him, “It is written, Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.” Then the devil took him to Jerusalem, and placed him on the pinnacle of the temple, saying to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, for it is written, He will command his angels concerning you, to protect you, and On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone. Jesus answered him, “It is said, Do not put the Lord your God to the test.” When the devil had finished every test, he departed from him until an opportune time. – Luke 4:1-13

Evangelical Christians want three things;

1- They want the Supreme Court to repeal Roe v Wade and make abortions illegal.

2- They want homosexuals to go back into the closet. In their opinion homosexuality is a sin against God and the LBGTQ community deserves no recognition, rights or privileges.

3- As the predominate and majority religion in the United States, Evangelicals believe Christian theology and beliefs should openly and categorically influence any rules of law and or decisions made by any and every branch of government.

So how is the Evangelicals deal with the devil going to date?

1- “In Judge Neil Gorsuch, President Trump has fulfilled his pledge to nominate a judge who has a demonstrated loyalty to the Constitution and a strong commitment to life. He is a phenomenal nominee for the Supreme Court. His belief in judicial restraint will serve the Court—and the country—very well. I also commend his career-long fight to uphold the constitutional right of religious liberty. I am confident my colleagues in the Senate will confirm Judge Gorsuch.” – House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI)

2- “After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you” – Donald Trump Tweet July 26, 2017

3- “IN AMERICA WE DON’T WORSHIP GOVERNMENT – WE WORSHIP GOD!” – Donald Trump Tweet July 26, 2017

Just to refresh our memory below are the ten rules Evangelical Christians believe are the standard bearers to their faith;

  1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
  2. You shall not make idols.
  3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
  4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  5. Honor your father and your mother.
  6. You shall not murder.
  7. You shall not commit adultery.
  8. You shall not steal.
  9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  10. You shall not covet.

How does the Evangelicals devil adhere to these rules?

  1. You shall have no other gods before Me.– Money, prestige, ego, privilege…….
  2. You shall not make idols.– Trump Tower, Mar-a-Lago, Trump Taj Mahal
  3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.Right
  4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.- Golf
  5. Honor your father and your mother.- One out of ten
  6. You shall not murder.- Bombs
  7. You shall not commit adultery.- Three marriages
  8. You shall not steal.- Bankruptcy
  9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.- Everyday, every tweet
  10. You shall not covet.- See number seven

I thought about all these pious Evangelicals when I read Anthony “The Mooch” Scaramucci’s, the man Trump hired last week to be his new White House communications director, recent interview. In this vulgar exchange with The New Yorker Magazine, Scaramucci belittled Reince Priebus, White House Chief of Staff, for trying to “cock block” Scaramucci from a job in the White House, calling Priebus a “f*cking paranoid schizophrenic” while also questioning Steve Bannon’s loyalty saying “I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own……..”. Well you get the idea. These are devils men, created “in his own image”

And how did the Evangelicals feel when a great American institution like the Boy Scouts of America had to apologize because their devil decided to feed his ego at the expense of ten-year old kids and their parents; “I want to extend my sincere apologies to those in our Scouting family who were offended by the political rhetoric that was inserted into the jamboree”. The answer? They don’t care because the Boy Scouts are no longer a “Christian” organization ever since they began allowing homosexual Scout leaders and transgender boys in their organization.

“People worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?” The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months.”

This may seem a little overboard to some of you, okay maybe just the Evangelicals, but isn’t that what this Presidency has been about from the beginning, “overboard”? Remember, chaos, misdirection, and dysfunction got Adam and Eve banished from the Garden of Eden. I guess Evangelicals are hoping God has a sense of humor or at least a very short memory. Me, I am hoping God holds their feet to the fire.

  2. “Imagine there’s no heaven, and no religion, too. It isn’t hard to do.” John Lennon. Marianne Williamson, a product of the tumultuous 60s, in her book “Illuminata” states that organized religion has done more to derail the spiritual advancement of the world than any government or institution. Hmmmm

  3. Politics contaminates everything it touches, and religion is no exception. The religious right movement is the anti-Christ, misleading the rank and file church goers to abandon the teachings of Christ in pursuit of worldly wealth and power.

    And still, reading your post and the comments above… I still believe there are good politicians. If not, why even border to write them in an attempt to stop/change all what is happening since January?
