Another myth debunked: “I’m, like, a really smart person”

“Study what General Pershing of the United States did to terrorists when caught. There was no more Radical Islamic Terror for 35 years!” – Donald Trump tweet 8-17-17

The Myth: U.S. General John J. Pershing effectively discouraged Muslim terrorists in the Philippines by killing them and burying their bodies along with those of pigs.

Fact or Fiction: Fiction (Trumpets, fiction means the myth is not true

During a campaign rally in South Carolina, Trump told his audience a story about General John Pershing executing Muslim prisoners in the Philippines. Trump said Pershing, “caught 50 terrorists that did tremendous damage and killed many people and he took the 50 terrorists and he took 50 men and he dipped 50 bullets in pig’s blood.”

Trump went on to describe the mass execution of 49 of the prisoners, with the last prisoner being released to tell the others what happened. This story is also untrue. There was no mass execution led by Pershing.

Why would Trump spew this false bullshit? Besides the fact he is egotistical moron? Because he is an unsophisticated, intellectual light-weight despite telling us that he is “like, a really smart person”. Money can buy a lot of “stuff” but what it can’t buy is class, smarts, compassion or empathy.

I have lived through eleven Presidents and though many thought that George Bush #2 was no rocket scientist, compared to Trump, at this point, Bush #2 looks like an intellectual giant.

I feel bad for the man, I feel bad for his family. His tweet above was wholly racist and insulting to Muslims, but here is the thing, I don’t think Trump is smart enough to realize that. Certainly, he doesn’t care. Maybe we are all giving him to much credit, that he knows exactly what he is doing, but he has demonstrated day in and day out that he is not a well read man. He watches television and just reacts to what the talking heads on Fox & Friends are covering. I am not convinced the man has ever had an original thought in his head.

But in the meantime the Trumpets cheer him on. What does this undying loyalty and love say about them? At this point there is no need to debate their intellectual abilities, or whether or not they are bigots, homophobes, racist or even, dare I say, Christian. For me the answer is easy and demonstrated in their words, their actions and sadly their continued support of this man.

As I have written before there is a chink in the GOP armor, we need to turn that chink into a rip, then a gash, then a laceration and then an amputation. We are being hijacked by 35%. It’s time to take our country back. What are you going to do?

“The president has not yet been able to demonstrate the stability nor some of the competence that he needs to demonstrates in order to be successful. And we need for him to be successful, our nation needs for him to be successful. It doesn’t matter whether you are Republican or Democrat. We need for our president, the world needs our president to be successful.” –  Republican Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee

  1. Instead, the world sees a complete laughingstock, Sen. Corker.

  2. The powerful oligarchs who have abducted our Republican Party and the 3 branches of government are not yet appeased. They have the best government that money can buy. However, we have the power of consumer choice. The CEOs who quit Trump understood that fact. We can call Congressmen until the cows come home, but most of them have been bought and paid for. We need to continue calling but I believe the power of our collective wallet is the key to dealing with the reality of what our government has become. Boycott products, boycott companies and let the companies know why we boycott. We still have a voice but results will happen when we use that voice in the marketplace.

I agree. For me the way to improve things it to get as many democrats as possible into the congress and into state and local positions. It is critical to change the leadership of the house and the senate. I will post and tweet, and I will talk to everyone I can to get the information out. I hope others do also. Hugs

There are mountains of apathy, inertia, and bigotry within the liberal community to get over before getting to the goal of winning at the ballot box. I’ve come to notice two canaries in the mine: 1) NC politics and 2) state of Black men in America. When NC passed HB2 and all the corporations did their best to punish us with no avail, it should have sent quite the alarm to Dems. Also, when Black men were innocently killed while the police got off and there was no across the board outrage, that also should have mobilized Dems. Now we’re here. If we don’t deal with these mountains, winning at the ballot will not happen. #Kassandraspeaks

I agree. I think the “Left” needs to be much louder & stronger at “politics that helps the people”. I am tired of republican lite. I want progressives. Let the left be left. Let the right be for corperation and left for the people. It will be the message people have been waiting to hear. Hugs

As Ron White said (I might need to paraphrase) If you’re fat, you can lose weight. If you lack beauty, you can get plastic surgery. However, there is no pill or surgery to fix stupid.

Bit of topic: Did you know that in the Philippines it’s allowed over there to just shoot (murder) anyone, who you SUSPECT is doing drugs. I literally fell down my chair when I saw a documentary a few months ago about this…

Yes, tack your country back, before it all escalates even further.
