Christian values; Porn stars and religious freedoms

“I can promise you he is not President Perfect. Now did he have an affair with this woman? I have no clue, but I believe that 70 years of age, the president is a much different person today than he was four years ago, five years ago, ten years ago, or whatever, and we just have to give the man the benefit of the doubt. He said he didn’t do it, so okay, let’s say he didn’t do it.” – Franklin Graham on MSNBC

I was having a nice Saturday morning. Slept a little late, made myself a nice omelet and then sat down to watch my favorite morning news program, Weekend Today hosted by Craig Melvin, who grew up in South Carolina and went to college down the road from my hometown, and the beautiful and adorable Sheinelle Jones and Dylan Dreyer. Yes, I have an old man crush on both of these smart and lovely ladies.

When the show ended, I flipped over to MSNBC to catch the latest information on the #TrumpShutdown before I headed outdoors to start working in the yard and whose face filled my television screen? The righteous Reverend, Franklin Graham. A perfectly pleasant Saturday morning shoot to hell.

Over the next ten minutes, Graham defended all things Trump with quips like “We certainly don’t hold him up as the pastor of this nation and he is not. But I appreciate the fact that the president does have a concern for Christian values, he does have a concern to protect Christians whether it’s here at home or around the world and I appreciate the fact that he protects religious liberty and freedom.”

“Holy shit” I thought. How can this man, a person who professes to be a follower of Jesus Christ, continue to not just defend but support this immoral moron with a straight face. I’ve got to be honest, I have no idea what kind of “Christian values” the right reverend is talking about. Adultery? Slander? Hate? Racism? How about the big seven; envy, wrath, lust, greed, gluttony, sloth, and pride? Are these the “Christian values” Trump shows concern for and wants to protect? They are certainly the values Trump holds dear to his heart.

Graham said that our country has a “Sin Problem”. No, what this country has is a leadership problem which includes both Trump and Graham. Both men have a dangerous incomprehension of their own intellectual deficiencies, one what it takes to be President of the United States, the other what it means to be a leader of the Christian faith. What is fascinating to me is that Trump and Graham do share a common family trait, both had fathers who set them up in business, both are members of the lucky sperm club.

Franklin Graham and Donald Trump are a match made in Hell. They are perfect for each other, the yin and yang of where we are as a nation. One wants the freedom to screw porn stars, the other one wants the freedom to screw the rest of us. At this point, its hard to tell one from the other.

I read this on Joe.My.God this morning.

Austin Ruse, president of the Catholic Center for Family and Human Rights (C-FAM), this weekend summed up the hypocritical Christian right’s utter disinterest in Trump’s adultery by referencing the famous quote from former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards, who in 1983 declared, “The only way I can lose this election is if I’m caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy.”

    The tweet was this

The thing Nevers refuse to accept is that with DJT we unashamedly adhere to the “live boy-dead girl” rule. Come up with either, we’ll talk. Maybe.

So it seems very clear the morality of both are to be questioned if nothing else.

I would think if the general public has better morals and higher standards than the highly paid men of god leaders, it would be time to either question your religion or what your function really is. Hugs

  3. Eeeeeeeeha ! C’mon boys, Y’all are too easy on ’em. Let’s put a little fire under their asses. Neither one of them could qualify as poster boy for the Jesus club. Hell, we all know what happened when Jesus showed up at the press conference as a disabled man, when Jesus stood beside Mrs. Khan’s Muslim husband defending their dead soldier hero, when Jesus comforted John McCain in the POW camp, when Jesus held an the 18 year old black man dying in Vietnam while DJT partied hearty tryin to avoid STDs in America, when Jesus carried Heather Heyer home to heaven while DJT lauded the “good” people on both sides in Charlottesville. Yeah, there’s gonna be hell to pay when Donnie and Franklin stand at the throne and Jesus says, “Sorry fellas, I knew you not. What was it you did for my Kingdom back in 2017?”

I very much admire Graham’s father for his service to humanity, but Billy should disown his prodigal son. Uh, also, you forgot to mention “golden showers” as one of the newly appreciated Christian values.
