Blood is thicker than water

When I was in college I worked for a company whose owner had two sons around my age. It was a construction job and I was a lowly laborer digging holes, cutting boards and hauling trash, all the stuff the carpenters were too “skilled” to do. It was hard, hot work in the summer, and bitterly cold in the winter but I enjoyed it. The job gave me an appreciation as a young adult what it felt like to put in a hard days work.

Unfortunately the owners two sons didn’t share my enthusiasm for working hard. Their Dad would drop them off at the job site in morning and by the time the 10 am break truck rolled around they were nowhere to be found. Their buddies would pick them up and head for the Country Club to play golf the rest of the day. This was the routine every morning for about two weeks until the owner just gave up and his boys did what they did best, play golf, drink beer on Dad’s tab at the Country Club.

I wasn’t a big fan of either kid and though we had similar backgrounds and economic standing, they looked down on me because I was willing to stand knee-deep in the mud with a shovel in my hand and they weren’t. I guess because Daddy owned the company that kind of work was simply beneath them.

As college graduation approached the owner of the company offered me a job as an assistant project manager. The pay was good, I enjoyed the work and the atmosphere but something nagged at me, those kids. I asked my Dad what he thought about me going to work for the company and he simply said, “Never forget, blood is thicker than water.”

In the end, both sons went to work for their Dad and as soon as he retired they sold the company, put a bunch of money in their pockets and went to the Country Club and played golf everyday.

When “our” President brought his daughter and son in-law with him to the White House I thought “this won’t end well”. As parents most of us view our children through rose-colored glasses. How can we not? We have wiped their noses, wiped their butts, feed them and protected them. We have seen them at their worst and their best but still we love them.

The roles of both Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner inside the White House are at best blurred and undefined. My assumption on what both actually do is this, Ivanka is the de facto First Lady since the “real” First Lady appears to be an unwilling participant and Jared reads all the stuff “our” President is supposed to read but can’t be bothered and boils it down in easy to sallow bites for “our” genius President to understand.

But Trumps got a problem and as I mentioned in yesterday’s post his problem is all in the details. Despite what his Deplorable base bought hook, line and sinker being President was never about public service to this country, it was about business, expanding the Trump brand and as special counsel Robert Mueller is uncovering, repaying a massive Russian debt.

Yesterday Kushner lost a security clearance he never had but what is more damning are the reports that four foreign powers, the United Arab Emirates, China, Israel and Mexico have been discussing ways to influence Kushner. Why? Because of his lack of experience, knowledge and his financial vulnerabilities. How do they know about the Kushner families financial issues? Because Jared and his sister have been using the power of his position to ask foreign organizations for loans and investment capital.

The concern in the intelligence community is that Kushner is using his access to top-secret policy documents and decisions, without the appropriate or any clearance, and his influence over “our” President, “I will tell him what he needs to hear”, as leverage to approach foreign nationals who can help dig his family out of the financial hole they find themselves in. For any other presidency these kinds of allegations would be some serious shit, but in a Trump presidency just another day in paradise.

It is highly anticipated that Jared Kushner’s business dealings and associations may be in the next round of indictments from Mueller’s team. I personally think he will wait and make it a package deal to included Donald Trump the younger and lesser as well which will give King Trump something to really sweat about.

The daily corruption in this White House is unbelievable and still the blind willingly follow. I am not sure, even if Vladimir Putin took out a full-page ad in USA Today and exclaimed to the world that Trump owes the Russian government millions upon millions of dollars and that Putin has “our” President in his back pocket, that the Deplorable base would even believe him. I know what Trump would call it “just more fake news.”

Mueller and his team are slowly but surely connecting all the dots. The question that concerns me is this, will Trump’s lack of attention to details actually be the one thing that saves his ass? Is that his fire wall? And despite being an absolute narcissists I can’t imagine he would let anyone in his family take the fall for him but as we have learned over the last year nothing Trump does really shocks us anymore.

of course, he will allow Jared and Donnie Jr to take he fall for him. He might put up a stink over Ivanka..he’d ‘do her” if she wasn’t his daughter, you know. Gotta save that ‘fine ass”.

  3. I do my best to include Reuters and Aljazeera in my news watching and Rachel Maddow is a nightly “must see”. You’re right in saying that great journalism is making a comeback. Tried to include Foxx, but developed a severe tic and stomach disturbances. What is sad about Kushner is that trump has the power to disregard security clearance and keep him on. Kushner now is at the same security level that my partner and I had to haul government freight. Hey, maybe trump would have a job for us in DC? Mmmmm

    • The problem LPB is Trump has the power to disregard JK’s security clearance and unless word leaks out about it, we will never know.

Rachel is amazing, love her to death despite my wife’s insistence that she needs to add some “color” to her wardrobe.

When asked by Jimmy Fallon one night what she was going as on Halloween she said a butch lesbian, “How do you like my costume?” Funny and smart lady. Trump doesn’t mess with her.

All this just emphasizes why tRumpsky continues to support Putin and refuses to take any actions against him. Undoubtedly, he’s in debt to him up to his eyeballs and needs to tread lightly. Jared has been his “secret” negotiator … and methinks this is not going to change no matter how his clearance status is “downgraded.”

Re: Hope Hicks’ resignation. You know why she got the position in the first place, don’t you? Looks, looks, looks — tRumpsky’s highest qualifying factor. The fact that she happened to be smart was just an added bonus.

Who’s next? *rubbing my hands together with an evil smirk*
