The same people who think Obama is a Muslim think Trump is a Christian

The Same people

The same people who think Obama is a Muslim think Trump is a Christian. These fourteen words succinctly summarize just how screwed-up America is right now.

One of the many bugs I have with Evangelical Christians is this; you can be a mean, nasty piece of shit of a person. You can lie, you can steal, you can commit adultery, you can be a racist homophob, you can even be an egomaniac, and a narcissists who worships wealth, fame and glory but if you proclaim to anyone that will listen that you accept God’s gift of salvation and put your faith in Jesus Christ and accept that Jesus’ death on the cross was payment for your sins and His resurrection is proof of His power over death then by god you can wear the crown of being a Christian.

You see “being a Christian” to Evangelicals has NOTHING to do with acting Christ like. Good works won’t make you a Christian. Living up to a high moral standard won’t make you a Christian. Taking care of and feeding the poor won’t make you a Christian. Going to church, serving your community, or taking care of your neighbors won’t make you a Christian. The only way, at least to Evangelicals, you will ever cross the threshold of the Pearly gates is to profess that you accept God’s gift of salvation and the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Obviously you don’t have to mean it, all you have to do is say it. You sure as hell don’t have to show it, simply listen to the words and look at actions of the newly appointed head of the Evangelical Church, Pope Trump. The Evangelicals will make an exception for everyone, sure they can “bend” the rules except for gays, non-whites, Democrats, abortion supporters, liberals, and gun control advocates. Come on, they have their standards to up hold.

Here is my very simplistic view in a nutshell about these “Trump Christians”, despite what they think or believe, and despite what they are trying to sell to the rest of us, they do not have a standing reservation at the Hilton Heaven. In fact, if they continue along their current path I would highly recommend each of them buy a pair of asbestos lined long johns because if Revelation 21:8 is even remotely accurate; “But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” their ass is grass. Time to turn before you burn.

About ends and beginnings blog

I am a frustrated writer and poet waiting to be discovered. A stand-up philosopher performing on a street corner near you. A Christian with questions but I don’t want to hear your answers. A Buddhist with a bumper sticker on my truck to prove it. A collector of quotes. A grower of lettuce. The Patron Saint of earthworms who name their children after me. A cyclist whose big ass strains the seams of his Lycra bibs. I am American by birth, Southern by the grace of God. My goal in life is to leave an imprint on the lives of the people I love not a footprint on the earth. I am a son, a husband, a father composed of 65%-Oxygen, 18%-Carbon, 10%-Hydrogen, 3%-Nitrogen, 3%-Diet Coke and 1%-Oreo.

  1. Ahhhh, a man after my own heart. “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?” We are seeing trump’s fruits, aren’t we? Unfortunately, he is diminishing in the worldview the lives and works of the majority of Christians who do not follow that line of bullshit.

I have long been frustrated with and by the christians who claim to be followers of Christ who have made life hell for those not them, or like them. Nice to know not all who go by that name are of the same make. Be well. Hugs

    • Scottie, my heart aches for the people that have been and are persecuted by all these “good” Christians for being the person they were born to be. What I do know is this, those that are persecuted have a greater strength on their side than their persecutors, love, compassion and empathy. If there is a heaven I am sure those three things will need to be checked on the list before you can meet Jesus.

Thank you, but often in this life the persecutors have far more power than the persecuted. A reward in heaven is not worth much if the life you have to live is hell because of those that promise that reward in the next one take as much of your joy as possible. You work with the homeless and less fortunate. How do they fight back. Especially against those who claim to be god’s chosen warriors. Best wishes, and hugs.

        • They focus on their life, not what others think or perceive about them. I describe as in the world, not of it. Many of them have developed a shield that is hard to penetrate, but once you do, once you earn their trust their loyalty and love is pretty remarkable.

I guess. But having the problem of being denied service due to someone’s perceived religious right to discriminate against those they deem unworthy rearing its very ugly head again, something I thought was dead and in the past, has me upset at the moment. Not meant as an attack on you, but memories are worse when current events bring them back full force. Hugs

          • Not taken as an attack Scottie. Not at all. I learn through people like you, I grow through the people like you. It is human nature for all of us to get wrapped up in our on little world. Me, I want my senses assaulted, and I want to assault others senses. Why I write what I write.

One of my favorite reads these days is a website called “Stuff That Needs to be Said,” because everything John Pavlovitz says on it is exactly that. Go to the above link to read this 20-year minister’s dressing down of all these ass-holier-than-thou pretenders.
