Moral compass

“From the documents we obtained, it appears Secretary Mnuchin considers first and foremost his own comfort and ease, leaving the protection of taxpayer money at the bottom of his list of priorities.” – CREW Chief FOIA Counsel Anne Weismann

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics (CREW), a Washington based watchdog group obtained documents tracking Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin travel through a Freedom of Information Act. CREW reports that Mnuchin has racked up nearly $1 million in taxpayer-funded trips, in just nine months, using military jets rather than commercial airlines.

Remember the picture above? Mnuchin was criticized for taking a military jet to Fort Knox, Ky., with his wife, Louise Linton, that also coincided with last year’s total solar eclipse in August. Ms. Linton posted the excursion all over her Instagram account giving a very detailed account of all the designer clothes she was wore on the trip.

When my wife saw this story last night she had two question, “Don’t these people have a moral compass? Don’t they know that what they are doing is wrong?” I reminded her who their “boss” was. Trumps mantra is very simple, do whatever you want, just don’t get caught and if you do get caught remember the ten D’s of opposition tactics; Deflect, Delay, Deny, Discount, Deceive, Divide, Dulcify, Discredit, Destroy and Deal.

Trump has spent his entire career using the ten D’s. He is particularly fond of Deflect, Deny, Discount, Deceive, Divide, Discredit, Destroy and Deal that is why the Stormy Daniels scandal is so interesting to me. To date, Trump and his minions have used all the “D” tricks in the bag against Ms. Daniels. But something happened, something went wrong and for whatever reason, Ms. Daniels simply won’t go away.

The Hannity crowd has picked up the mantle for Trump attempting to Discount, Discredit and Destroy Ms. Daniels. Hannity reminds his audience that she is a porn star, a stripper, a bimbo, a gold digger, only interested in publicity and a book deal. And still she battles on while the Deplorable base ignores the fact that their “fearless” leader has no moral compass to guide him, or to guide his cabinet posing for Instagram photographs and spending $31,000 on dining room furniture.

I don’t know what Ms. Daniels has on Trump but whatever it is it’s enough to keep her in the game. Will it sway the perception of Trump with his base? Probably not. His sheep see something in him that I haven’t been able to isolate. White, old, rich, republican, and full of bullshit can’t be the only reasons people follow him blindly. Maybe it is.

  1. Brother, that photo says it all…..smug, condescending, arrogant, better-than-you. As you once posted several months ago, those folks feel country-club privileged and special. No moral compass.

I don’t understand why you don’t “get it.” tRumpsky is going to Make America Great Again.! That’s the plain and simple truth of it. All the other “stuff” is ignored, pushed under the bed, excused, and denied because … see above.

All those firings that are going on? That’s simply “draining the swamp.” Doesn’t matter that DT picked most of them himself — they “revealed” their true nature (by describing him for what he is) and simply weren’t “playing the role” that the “director” has given them in this real-life TV series.

  5. I think the problem with Ms. Daniels is that it’s hard to destroy the reputation of someone whose reputation (in the eyes of some, anyway) is already bottomed out.
