Evangelical Christians Stormy course to salvation

Evangelicals

Have you ever heard the old sayings “It’s too late to shut the stable door after the horse has bolted”? Well that is what the Evangelicals are about to do. Several Evangelical Christian leaders want to have a “sit-down” with The Donald in the coming months to talk about, of all things, his relationship and payment to one Ms. Stormy Daniels. They are “worried” that Trumps indiscretions could be “very detrimental to some of the other issues that we hold dear” this year.

Now, before you get all sentimental remember those issues that they hold near and dear having nothing to do with love, compassion, empathy, or kindness towards their fellow-man or woman and everything to do with them what they believe in, namely preserving religious liberty and restricting abortion rights, issues, in their very “Godly” and righteous opinion, you and I should believe in as well.

I got to be honest, I have zero sympathy for this cult. My reaction to their new-found concern about hitching their wagon to this immoral star; “F*ck you and the horse you rode in on”. That may not seem very “Christ like” to you but I firmly believe that my Christ, my God doesn’t find the Evangelicals actions, lack of action or words very “Christ like” either.

Trump won 80 percent of the white Evangelical vote in the 2016 presidential election and despite all of his alleged” sexual encounters, 20 + at last count, that include payments to a Porn Star and a Playboy Bunny while married to his current wife, they have, for most part, stuck with and by him.

Evangelicals have convinced themselves that Trump has somehow “changed” over the last few years. They truly believe that he has become “a born-again Christian or really coming to faith asking for grace” as CBSN political contributor Leslie Sanchez noted. I would like to look like George Clooney, so would my wife, but no amount of praying or wishing is going to make them happen. I can assure you, Trump is no closer to God than he was 10 or 20 years ago. There is too much other stuff filling the space between him and Almighty and it starts with his over-inflated view of himself.

Maybe, just maybe some in the Evangelical cult realize now that Trump is a sheep in wolfs’ clothing, the Judas Iscariot to their precious and oh so fragile and demented system of beliefs. Maybe. But that 80 percent of the white Evangelicals has only dropped a few points over the last 14 months. Sad, scary but true.

I saw a bumper sticker yesterday that read; If The Fetus You Save Is Gay Will You Still Fight For Its Rights?” That, my friends is where the Evangelicals are with Trump right now, damned if they do, and DAMNED if they continue to do. But hell, they have come this far what do they have to lose? They are special, God will give them a pass, they have a pocket full of “Get out of jail free” cards because their interruption of the Bible “tells them so”!

“All elections are important. Midterms are coming up, but important elections are happening across the country at other times as well. As Christians we need to pray and we need to vote, even in off-year elections. Christians should be aware of candidates who call themselves progressive. Progressive is generally just a code word for someone who leans toward socialism, who does not believe in God, & who will likely vote against Godly principles that are so important to our nation.” – Franklin Graham tweet 4-5-18

About ends and beginnings blog

I am a frustrated writer and poet waiting to be discovered. A stand-up philosopher performing on a street corner near you. A Christian with questions but I don’t want to hear your answers. A Buddhist with a bumper sticker on my truck to prove it. A collector of quotes. A grower of lettuce. The Patron Saint of earthworms who name their children after me. A cyclist whose big ass strains the seams of his Lycra bibs. I am American by birth, Southern by the grace of God. My goal in life is to leave an imprint on the lives of the people I love not a footprint on the earth. I am a son, a husband, a father composed of 65%-Oxygen, 18%-Carbon, 10%-Hydrogen, 3%-Nitrogen, 3%-Diet Coke and 1%-Oreo.

For all my disagreements with them, the fact remains that evangelicals have fed, clothed and housed me the past seven years.

Do kindly leave the horse they rode in on out of this – it’s innocent, the poor thing. Likely would love to buck them off, too. 😋

But yea. That other horse is already halfway to Canada, might as well burn down the barn. Not that the majority of American Evangelicals care, I think. It’s never been about morals. It’s about supreme court judges and Roe vs Wade, about guns, and Creationism in schools, and the power to make laws.

If they’d have to make a deal with the devil incarnate to get what they want, they’d find a way to justify it, I have no doubt whatsoever. In fact, I can already see a preacher declaring “Even the evil one may serve the Lord’s purpose!!”

Why were you following my car the other day? I have that bumper sticker, as well as a few other designed to make people think or react in other atypical ways…..

  4. Ahhhh, a topic near and dear to me. “Evangelism – the act of spreading and sharing the teachings of Jesus to the world” Many in Christiandom have done so conscientiously, accurately, and compassionately. Jesus would probably say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Those whom you mentioned dishonor and bastardize the term “evangelical”. Trump disgraces the miracle of “born again”. ( just random thoughts from a Jesus freak)
