Getting to know you, Getting to know all about you

As I watched the news reports last night about the FBI raid on Trumps personal lawyer Michael Cohen, Julie Andrews singing “Getting to know you, Getting to know all about you” was humming through my head. Honestly, the enormity of this little transaction is almost beyond comprehension. We now have a sitting President under two criminal investigations. That’s a first.

Think about all the puzzles pieces that came to together to raid the President of the United States’ personal attorney. Special counsel Robert Mueller saw something, a connection, a transaction, something about Michael Cohen that gave him heartburn. He tells his boss, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, appointed by Trump, about it and apparently both agree that whatever that “something” is it was outside of Mueller’s scope of work but bad, bad enough to pursue.

Rosenstein has a judge, appointed by Trump, to sign off and approve the raid by the FBI, whose Director was appointed by Trump. And the pièce de résistance, the U.S. Attorney of the Southern District of New York, literally handpicked and appointed by Trump (Updated: even worse recused), was responsible for coordinating and running the raid on Michael Cohen.

In the meantime, baby Donald sits in front of the cameras with his arms crossed like a six-year-old getting ready to hold his breath until he gets what he wants telling the world; “It’s a disgrace, it’s, frankly, a real disgrace, it’s an attack on our country in a true sense. It’s an attack on all we stand for. Why don’t I just fire Mueller? Well, I think it’s a disgrace what’s going on. We’ll see what happens. But I think it’s really a sad situation, when you look at what happened. And many people have said, you should fire him.”

As you would expect, Trump immediately attempted to deflect from his crimes, his troubles and rally his Deplorable base to support the make-believe, Fox News, Sean Hannity “crimes” of Hillary Clinton and former FBI Director, James Comey. Apparently this diversion hasn’t worked and didn’t work on all of the Trump appointees involved in this latest “Witch Hunt”.

I got to be honest, a couple of weeks ago I was beginning to think that Trump was just going to skate through this whole thing. There has never been any doubt in my mind that he is rotten and corrupt to the core of his swallow being. There was a reason he wasn’t releasing his tax returns. It wasn’t about the audit, it wasn’t about the inconvenience of pulling it altogether because he is so successful. Trump is hiding something, he has always been hiding something and whatever that “something” is I think Mueller is right on top of it.

The walls are closing in on this man and his family and though many of us will celebrate learning the truth about “Crooked Donald” we all need to be worried about what “Crazy Donald” might do in the meantime. We have an unstable, caged animal, under insurmountable pressure, watching his empire and legacy crumble before his eyes, spending hours glued to Fox News. We have a madman planning a military response to Syria. We have a sub-par businessman making economic decisions that will affect us all today and certainly into the future.

If you aren’t writing your representatives in Congress and the Senate every week about keeping Trump in check you should be. Our “red line” is and has always been with those individuals that represent us. It might seem like a waste of time to continue to communicate with them because they support Trump, believe me I get that. I live in a deep red state myself. But it isn’t a waste of time, keep writing and keep calling. At this point, until November when we get a vote, it is all we can do.
