Deplorable nation, screw you

Over the course of the last six years I have known five people who have died from the disease, Glioblastoma, Senator John McCain is battling with number six having been diagnosed just seven months ago. All five of these people, three of them close friends died within 18 months of being diagnosed. All of them had surgery to remove the tumor but within a matter of months the tumor returned bigger and meaner than before. Now I know a sixth person dealing with this horrible disease and the prognosis for him is not if he is going to die but when.

Yesterday morning, a White House aide named Kelly Sadler joked about Senator McCain’s opposition to CIA nominee Gina Haspel in a staff meeting by saying “he’s dying anyway.” This is tone of the White House, a tone set by Trump, the same guy who said of McCain; “He’s not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

Senator McCain was a prisoner of war in North Vietnam for five and a half years until his release on March 14, 1973. He was refused medical treatment for his fractured arms and leg, injuries sustained when he was shot down by a missile over Hanoi. While imprisoned, he was regularly beaten and severely tortured. McCain was offered an early release by the North Vietnamese because of his father’s position as the commander of all U.S. forces in Vietnam but refused repatriation unless every man taken in before him was also released. His wartime injuries left him permanently incapable of raising his arms above his head.

Despite whether or not you agree with Senator McCain’s political beliefs, which for the most part I don’t, no one can question this mans patriotism or his service to our country. And despite what the orange piece of shit sitting in the White House picking his nose and scratching his lily-white draft dodging ass says, John McCain IS a war hero. Baby Donald isn’t fit to clean John McCain’s toilet and he will never come close to matching the sacrifices McCain has made.

Honestly, the shit that comes out Trump classless, playground bully mouth really doesn’t surprise me anymore. But what does surprise me is that he doesn’t get any backlash from the Deplorable veterans that “support” him. What that tells me is that they are spineless, mindless, chicken-shits just like their big talking, orange weasel of a leader.

Deplorable nation, screw you. You think you have won the battle for the soul of America but you are losing the war. The day is coming, soon, when you white, racist, homophobic, evangelical bigots will have to crawl back in to your holes and wait for next Adolph Hitler to rise from the ashes of Trumps failed attempt to line his pockets with our gold.

Kelly Sadler hasn’t been fired yet. The reason is because her low life boss agrees with her, “he’s dying anyway.” Donald Trump shames this country and the office of the presidency and veterans, he shames you. Senator John McCain IS a war hero and he bears the physical and mental scars to prove it. The only thing Trump “bears” is a cheap orange spray tan and a dead squirrel wrapped around his head. Apparently that is just enough sacrifice for the Deplorable nation to march in goose step with this gutless wonder.

“People have wondered when decency would hit rock bottom with this administration. It happened yesterday. John McCain is a genuine hero — a man of valor whose sacrifices for his country are immeasurable. As he fights for his life, he deserves better — so much better. Given this White House’s trail of disrespect toward John and others, this staffer is not the exception to the rule; she is the epitome of it. Our children learn from our example. The lingering question is whose example will it be. I am certain it will be John’s.” – Joe Biden

Thank you for this post. We are in a war for the soul of this nation, and one battle lost will not be the loss of the war. There are grand people in this country. I know their are. I read them, I hear them, I hope I can join with them and be one of them. But those great people need to stand up to the deplorables that are trying so hard to drag the high ideals this great country once stood proudly for into the deepest cesspools. I know there are more wonderful people than there are loud hateful mean deplorables who just want to vent their rage, and those wonderful people now need to decide to stand up, be counted, be vocal, be heard, stand united against the flow of bigotry and disinformation. It can be done, it must be done. Thank you. Hugs

Thank you for this post. I am still so angry over what was said about Mr. McCain that I can not express it in words decent enough to write down and share.

I had not heard this. My dad must be turning over in his grave at such remarks. Just when you think Trump and his bunch can’t get any lower, they pull something even worse. Thanks for your post.

  4. Watching the news stories last night had me up much of the night wanting to write something and coming up with nothing. “Fire & fury” does not begin to cover what I feel as a veteran who knows that while other guys my age were getting murdered in Vietnam, a piece of shit like trump was nursing his bone spurs and “avoiding STDs in the States”. That was his personal Vietnam. At times like this I want desperately to believe that there is a wrathful, vengeful, hateful god who will take care of slime like trump. Thanks, E&B, for being a voice for a veteran like me who today is sputtering.

I hear your anger. We in NZ have what is termed a “tall poppy syndrome”, which is often criticised, but I’m very grateful that it keeps people like Trump out of politics.

I do hope the US finds it way soon – the sooner the better for your sake and ours.

Amen! Every generation of my family has served our country since pre-civil war. I am proud of my family, all of our soldiers and I am pissed that this freaking coward feels it is fine to be rude to McCain and Sen. Tammy Duckworth. Sadler and the deplorables who didn’t speak out need to be shown the door.

John McCain is what republicans are supposed to be. Or perhaps he’s what they were, a long time ago. He will be remembered as a /good/ man, a man of integrity and courage. The only thing dtRump will be remembered for is his atrocious hair.
