Let’s change the conversation

“Many Democrats are deeply concerned about the fact that their “leadership” wants to denounce and abandon the great men and women of ICE, thereby declaring war on Law & Order. These people will be voting for Republicans in November and, in many cases, joining the Republican Party!” – Trump tweet 7-2-18

According to their website the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) “enforces federal laws governing border control, customs, trade and immigration to promote homeland security and public safety.” With more than 20,000 employees in over 400 offices in the United States and 46 foreign countries the agency has an annual budget of approximately $6 billion and sadly Trump has turned them into his own personal SS Stormtroopers.

In typical Trump fashion he is working overtime to divert and deflect attention away from the NAZI like tactics he has used to separate Latino families telling his base that Democrats want to do away with ICE and secure borders allowing criminals and rapist unobstructed access into our country. Basically he is using the same strategy that got him elected, FEAR!

What a few “Democrats” are proposing has nothing to do with letting criminals and rapist enter our country by the busloads but the truth is simply to complicated for Trump to understand and a lie is much easier to fabricate and tweet. What the Democrats are concerned about and I share their concern is that ICE and the mission Trump is forcing them to perform is weakening the efforts of the other Homeland Security agencies. The problem is a big picture issue and unfortunately Trump doesn’t have the mental capacity to focus on big pictures, just single frame cartoons like Ziggy.

“How can the Democrats, who are weak on the Border and weak on Crime, do well in November. The people of our Country want and demand Safety and Security, while the Democrats are more interested in ripping apart and demeaning (and not properly funding) our great Law Enforcement!” – Trump tweet 7-3-18

So instead of coming up with a plan on how to reunite the families Trump and ICE have ripped apart he wants to change the conversation. Trump needs to convince the rest of us, because his base already believes it, that sticking a three-year old from Mexico in a cage increased the Safety and Security of America. Again, the difference between the truth and a tweet.

I feel bad for the ICE officers. I am sure they include mothers and fathers who were heart-broken taking children away from their parents. Imagine yourself as one of the workers babysitting these children in an old Wal-Mart and listening to them cry themselves to sleep every-night. I suspect, if it hasn’t already begun to happen, that we will see a mass exodus of ICE agents and sadly the ones that will leave will be the ones with a compassionate heart. What will we be left with? Trumps own personal, heartless SS Stormtroopers patrolling our borders.

  1. Well said. Let’s start a GoFundMe for Putin to take his lap dog home with him after the Helsinki meeting. Hell, I’ve got $5 burning a hole in my pocket. EEEEEEEEHAW

Will all this *crap* ever end? Putin’s best buddy seems intent upon doing whatever he can get away with in his efforts to set himself up as “Supreme/Divine Commander.”

I want to revisit the issue of ICE employees refusing to do the horrible things asked of them. While a few have, far too many just go along with what they are told. In history we have seen “just following orders” is not an excuse. I am sorry but any ICE personnel involved in these acts against children and humanity have no sympathy from me. If they have a conscious, they need to stop following these inhuman orders. Period. Right now no one is holding guns to their heads. Heck they can’t by the rules even comfort crying children, not allowed to even hug or hold the youngest of them. If this is not a crime against humanity, then humanity has lost its reason. Hugs

    • Scottie I guess we need to walk in their shoes. They have families to feed, mortgages to pay. It’s easy to sit on the sideline and say by God I wouldn’t do it. I can promise you many of those men and women are looking for other jobs but they can’t afford to quit. Their stories will be told as well and we will hear the hurt and heartache in their voices. Most are human but as I wrote we need to be concerned with what will be left after they leave.
