Resurrected, recycled or reshuffled

Back in June of 2018 I wrote a post called Help wanted! It was about the White House holding a Conservative Job Fair, yeah they really called it that, to try and attract applicants for the thousands upon thousands of jobs in the Trump White House that had yet to be filled. And two years later, they still haven’t been filled. These aren’t cabinet level jobs, I’ll discuss those in a minute, these were administrative positions, stuff like researchers, and policy making, etc. in the Defense, Interior, Commerce, Homeland Security, Health & Human Services, NASA, Energy, and Treasury departments. Jobs that college graduates applied for, honestly competed for. Jobs that made new resumes shimmy and sparkle after 2 or 4 years of service, living with five people in an efficiency apartment and eating Ramen Noodle Soup every night. Low pay and even lower living conditions was a sacrifice kids were willing to make to gain the experience of having worked in Washington for a couple of years, at least before the Trump circus rolled into town.

Maybe you have heard that Trump has rehired his former chief of staff Reince Priebus (fired) and former press secretary Sean Spicer (kind of fired) almost three years after both men unceremoniously left the White House. They will join the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships, which means the pair will interview and recommend to their former boss national finalists for appointments. It has also been reported that Hope Hicks, former White House communications director, has found her way back to the carnival in some advisory role. It seems the people in Hollywood, where she headed after she left Trump, didn’t like her much. Other recent resurrected, recycled or reshuffled staff include Richard Grenell, and John McEntee.

The “party line” from Trumps chief liar Kellyanne Conway is that there aren’t any vacancies that need to be filled. If we can all remember back to what seems like a 100 years ago, Trump was going to “Drain the Swamp”, Mexico was going to pay for his big, beautiful, powerful wall, the Chinese were going to make all the soy bean and corn farmers billionaires, and coal was going to drive the economy, but I digress. So, what was true back in June of 2018 is still true today, Trump is a fucking moron and nobody except for a handful of other fucking morons want to work in his administration which is why people like Spicer and Priebus are being resurrected, recycled or reshuffled.

Think about this for a minute, The Big Tangerine has been in office for a little over three years. Every presidential administration has about 740 key positions it has to fill, HAS TO FILL. These are spots that must be confirmed by the Senate on top of 1,200 lesser spots that require Senate confirmation also. Of the 740 to date, 509 have been confirmed (which includes about 2/3’s who have already quit or were fired and filled by “acting directors” that don’t require Senate confirmation). 53 have been nominated and are waiting on Senate confirmation which Trump blames on the Democrats dragging their feet. Not sure how or why he can blame the minority party, but logic doesn’t apply with this clown. 13 are awaiting nomination which means Trump has a name and a warm body, but something just isn’t right about his nominee. And 169 positions have no nominee at all. These are Kellyanne’s draining the swamp slots.

The Washington Post keeps two running tallies on Trump, how many lies he tells, 16,241 to date and how many slots he has filled so far, and it is a long and ever-changing cast of characters. As you scroll through the list what strikes you first are how many people have withdrawn, resigned, and even returned. It is seriously a long ass list of people who have said fuck-it this guy is nuts, life is just to damn short. And what does Kellyanne tell the Deplorable faithful, your boy is “Draining the swamp” and the rednecks scream in unison…..“Lock her up”, no wait, “Build that wall”, no, no, “Send her Back” that’s not it either, wait I know what they say, “I’m my sisters baby Daddy”. Morons.

I thought filling slots was the mushroom’s chief function.

I have my personal opinion on why some of those individuals left — and then came back (or are in the process of).

Care to guess what it might be?
