The Failed Experiment

If you remember, and what white, conservative, God fearing, red-blooded American would ever forget, Ronald Reagan was a movie star before he was the President. But the “Great Communicator” as he was called, had a little experience before he took the job of the most powerful man in the world. From 1967 to 1975, “The Gipper” was the Governor of the great state of California and before that he was the President of the Screen Actors Guild which I am sure is where he really gained most of statesman’s experience.

The mystic of Ronald Reagan still holds sway over Republicans of a certain age. In their minds his eight years in office were the golden years of the Grand Old Party. Reagan and GOP preached the values of God, country, and family to all that would listen along with the help of Moral Majority. But the truth about Reagan was that he wasn’t a particularly religious man, nor did he wrap himself in the flag unless it was convenient, or a photo opportunity and his family life was a shit show. But nevertheless, Reagan sold it and Americans ate it up even though he was probably only lucid for 50% of his second term. And now we got another “actor” as President the legend in his own mind, the underwhelming Donald J. Trump.

I have thought a lot about how we got here, with the here being having this demented clown in office. If you recall, there were 25 republican candidates for President in 2016. Do you remember who they were? Here are just a few:

  1. Rick Perry
  2. Marco Rubio
  3. Mike Huckabee
  4. Lindsey Graham
  5. Rick Santorum
  6. Rand Paul
  7. Chris Christie
  8. Jeb Bush
  9. Ben Carson
  10. John Kasich

And last and certainly least, Donald J. Trump.

Look at that list of names. With the exception of Ben Carson and Mike Huckabee and maybe Rand Paul most of these men, old Lindsey not new Lindsey, would have been a better choice for President than the orange dumbass we got. And I even understand the distaste or even disdain for Hillary. If she had run against Kasich rather than Trump, I am not sure I would have voted for her. But the question still remains, how did the GOP whittle down from 24 sane, rational, for the most part, human beings, to the village idiot?

Trump brought noting to the job but bullshit and bluster and four years later that is still all we got. Think about all the “plans” he has promised. Mexico was paying for the wall. Didn’t happen. A health care plan better than Obama Care. Haven’t seen it. An infrastructure plan. Still driving on the same old shitty roads. A jobs plan. Highest unemployment since the depression. Promise, after promise. Lie upon lie. Tweet after tweet and what have we got to show for it? A 74-year-old man raging on steroids and Adderall.

If the polls are correct and hell after 2016 who knows if they are, Joe Biden is kicking Trumps ass right now. A lot of political soothsayer’s chalk-up what is happening to what they are calling “Trump fatigue” in short, people are tired of his shit. Me, I say what we have experienced over the last four years is a failed experiment. People, specifically old white people, white trash, racist, confederate flagging waving pieces of shit wanted to try something “different” and by god Donald J. Trump was certainly something different. Crude, crass, unprepared, fly by the seat of your pants is different. And at the end of the day the Trump experiment has been a dismal failure no if, ands or buts. Trump knows it. The GOP knows it. And if they were honest with themselves, most of his supporters know it as well.

Trump came in, for most of us, with very low expectations. Basically, don’t blow anything up, don’t blow anybody up, try not to break anything that we can’t fix when you leave and whatever you do, don’t push the red button. We will survive this failed experiment. It will take time, some patience’s and sadly a whole lot more money but we will survive if, and this is the BIG ASS if, if we vote like our future depends on it. Guess what, it does.

  1. One thing I’ve noticed lately is phenomenal absence of tRump yard signs. It is like they have slowly swallowed their pseudo pride in a fake president. Quietly waiting to move on and evolve.

It was the perfect storm of a brewing bunch of uneducated racist angry white guys played to and conned by a village idiot with a gift to stir up old resentments, hatred and fear. Cowardly and unethical republicans in control saw a path to power beyond their wildest dreams. All they had to do was sit back and watch the shitshow fall right into their greedy little hands.
