I know this email is a waste of time, but it makes me feel better writing it. For the last four years you have supported, shielded, defended, and turned a blind eye to a man and an administration that has encouraged hate, racism, and division. A man and an administration that has mocked and disregarded the standards and norms of the office of President and the Constitution. A man and an administration that has put their own self-interest above the interest, safety, and security of American citizens. A man and an administration that is trying to disregard the will of the people and steal the election which is nothing less than an attempted coup d’état. Fortunately for America, Trump and his henchmen and henchwomen are just as inapt and ineffective as he was at being President.
It appears that Trump’s “plan” (which will be the first plan he has had in four years) over the next 49 days is to leave this country in total chaos before Biden’s arrival on January 20th. And as is typical he is more concerned about his hurt feelings than the safety, security, and health of the rest of us. I don’t care if Trump attends the inauguration. His absence would be a fitting and appropriate way to end his presidency. And here is the truth, the majority of Americans would prefer he not attend. We are ready to move forward and put this ugly chapter behind us.
My one pray four years ago was for this country to simply survive a Trump presidency. I was confident that this self-absorbed, narcist would be more enthralled with the trappings of being “Mr. President” rather than doing the hard work of being the President and I was right. Senator Graham would have us believe that so many conservative judges are proof of Trumps success but you and I both know that Trump had little to nothing to do with filling those seats other than occupying a seat himself.
I had been worried in the past about who Trump would piss off, what secrets he would share or what country he wanted to bomb but I also knew there were a few adults around babysitting him. But not today, not over the next 49 days. What few grown-ups that were left he has fired, and I am confident he will fire the rest of them before January 20th. My greatest fear right now is not COVID, or Iran but other Americans, the lunatic fringe that Trump has worked into a lather. A lunatic fringe that your silence encourages. Mr. Gabriel Sterling is correct when he said, “Mr. President. It looks like you likely lost the state of Georgia. We’re investigating. There’s always a possibility. I get it. And you have the rights to go through the course. What you don’t have the ability to do — and you need to step up and say this — is stop inspiring people to commit potential acts of violence. Someone is going to get hurt.”
As I have said in numerous emails to you over the last four years, history will judge the Trump presidency as the most corrupt, and ineffective presidency this country has ever experienced in modern times. This has been a dark time and COVID was just the icing on the cake. But honestly, we don’t have to wait on history, 81,000,000 Americans have judged the Trump presidency a dismal failure. 81,000,000 Americans are ready for something that resembles normal again. 81,000,000 Americans are ready for real leadership. 81,000,000 Americans have spoken. Why haven’t you?
This is the opening of an AP Story (12-2-20) today, hardly a fake news outlet: “The last throes of Donald Trump’s presidency have turned ugly — even dangerous.
Death threats are on the rise. Local and state election officials are being hounded into hiding. A Trump campaign lawyer is declaring publicly that a federal official who defended the integrity of the election should be “drawn and quartered” or simply shot.
Neutral public servants, Democrats and a growing number of Republicans who won’t do what Trump wants are being caught in a menacing postelection undertow stirred by Trump’s grievances about the election he lost.”
This is what your silence is encouraging Senator. This is where your silence is taking us. It’s ugly, it’s scary, and it’s juvenile. It’s Donald J. Trump.
BRAVO!!!

I know why you sent this, but ultimately it was a huge waste of time and effort. Repuglycans are not listening. They stopped listening years ago. I admire your sticktoittiveness, but it will be forever in vain.
If ever any member of the GOP is elected again anywhere in the USA, then your republic is a total failure. It will be the beginning of the end–of America.

Well said. I am here courtesy of Nan’s reblog. I have written too many letters and made too many calls on this subject to my Republican Congressman and Senators, among others. They don’t care, because they have already gotten into bed with this corrupt and deceitful acting person.
I shared the article in my recent post “It has to stop” of the Georgia official who condemned the ongoing actions that are inciting violence and death threats to hard working election officials, many of whom are Republican. A few of the paragraphs from the article and a link are included. Here is my post. Thanks Keith

Like Keith, I am here courtesy of Nan’s re-blog. I have written so many letters to members of Congress that I’ve long since lost count, but I must say that I have never written one that was as spot-on as this one is! I agree with every word. Thank you!

This is the most accurate summary of what has transpired over the past four years and the effect it will have on American Democracy for years to come.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Republicans are simply complacent in the harm that Trump and his administration have (and continue to) caused. They largely remain complacent as he tries to burn our democratic institutions to the ground in a fit of spite. Elected Republican are more concerned about a mean tweet that might rouse the ire of his base than they are about America itself.
This is truly a sad time in American history.
