Thank you Donald Trump

Ms. Lindsey Graham says that Donald Trump is not only the leader but the face of the Republican Party. According to Graham, the future of the party will go through Trump and his MAGA base: “He’s ready to move on and rebuild the Republican Party and is excited about 2022. We need to unite the party. ‘Trump plus’ is the way back in 2022 and we can’t do that without Donald Trump.”

As a Democrat, as an American and more importantly as a human being we need to thank Ms. Graham and Mr. Trump. Honestly, Donald Trump is the best thing that ever happened to the Democratic Party. Since he won his “landslide” election in 2016 and had the biggest crowds the world has ever seen at his inauguration the Republicans have lost control of the Congress, then the White House, and then the Senate. And what was the single common denominator in all those loses, you guessed it, the former President and one term loser Donald J. Trump.

The GOP has been given two opportunities to move past Trump and both times they couldn’t. Even Lindsey tried to end it with Trump after the attempted but failed coup d’état on January 6th but then he came groveling back. Why? Only Trump and Putin know the answer to that question. I guess a picture (or video) really is worth a thousand words.

I think it is safe to predict that Trump is no longer a threat to American Democracy. Sure, he might still have some pull to get some QAnon nut elected dog catcher in Bumfuck, Alabama or get a thousand people to attend a rally in the town of Inbred, Mississippi to sale his hats and t-shirts but the days of Trump meaning shit to the rest of us or even to the rest of the world are over. He is a toothless, twitterless, tyrant playing in a sandbox down in Florida.

Most  Americans knew that Trump sat on his ass for four years and watched television and the majority of us knew that Putin had Trump in his back pocket. We knew he was all talk and tweets and no action. We also knew he was a dangerous psychopath who had the nuclear codes. But COVID kicked his ass and exposed the fraud that he is, a man with no plan, no clue, who thought he could bullshit his way out everything just like he had done his entire life. But when the presidential rubber met the road, smoke, mirrors, and spray tan was not a blueprint for success or to get reelected.

It estimated that of those Americans that identify as Republicans 75% still believe that Donald J. Trump is the second coming of Jesus Christ and 25% want nothing to do with him. Here is what I know, if the GOP puts Trumpy candidates on ballot in districts where cousins marry cousins, and daddies date their stepdaughters they might win. But in districts where family trees actually have branches they will lose and they will keep losing because, let’s all say it together, TRUMP IS A LOSER.

Sixty Minutes did a segment on the SolarWinds Russian hack, described as the biggest, and most intrusive hack the US Government has ever experienced, and an operation we still haven’t figured out how to shut down. This happened on Trump’s watch and in typical Trump fashion he stated that “The Cyber Hack is far greater in the Fake News Media than in actuality. I have been fully briefed and everything is well under control. Russia, Russia, Russia is the priority chant when anything happens because Lamestream is, for mostly financial reasons, petrified of discussing the possibility that it may be China (it may!).”

Why would the majority of Republicans and Lindsey Graham want more of this kind of insanity? Why do they think this clown is a genius? I simply can’t answer that question. All I can say is thank you. If the GOP are too stupid not to run away from MAGA and Trumpism then they deserve each other. Even Mitch McConnell knows we are right he just didn’t have the courage to admit it when it mattered most.

It’s nice to have a human being leading this country again. It’s nice to see kids, grandkids and dogs at the White House. Normal feels good. Normal feels peaceful, reassuring, stable, and American. Thank you Donald Trump for reminding us what we have been missing for four years.

The only question left is “Who will get Donald Trump first … Georgia, New York, or his creditors?” One way or another, today’s implosion of Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, NJ is a good metaphor.

Graham won his Senate seat easily over a candidate I thought could really take SC. He didn’t and I think it’s because Graham continued to play to the Trumpers in SC. That’s the difficult part of this equation: the Trump robots in the GOP constituency. They’re not going anywhere and continue to play a strong part in the electorate. Look at the NC GOP censure of Richard Burr, same in the votes against Liz Cheney. Adam Kitzinger is getting his ass kicked by his own family over his denouncing of the Orange Orangutang! His being disowned by siblings, cousins, etc. This is why McCarthy/Scalise went down to the kiss his big hairy (orange?) ass.

So, I wouldn’t go counting any chickens just yet; ‘22 is not going to be a walk on the beach for the Dumos. Of course it could (and I stress “could”) be a bit easier if Biden/Harris get some good things done like solving the pandemic and getting the economy restarted.

    • So here is the deal, Graham easily won his seat because at the end of the day South Carolina is one of those states where “cousins marry cousins, and daddies date their stepdaughters”. We basically have four, very small metropolitan areas and the rest of the state is populated by toothless rednecks living in their mom’s single-wide trailer who watch reruns of Dukes of Hazzard and Andy Griffith all day.

Jamie Harrison, the guy that ran against Graham, had three strikes against him from the beginning. Number one, he is a Democrat. Trump won the state with 55% of the vote, Graham got 55% of the vote. Biden got 43%, Harrison got 44%. This is a straight party state. Number two, he is a black man, an educated black man. There is nothing a white guy from Pickens County with a 9th grade education hates more than an educated black man. And number three, South Carolina already has a black senator. There is no way on God’s green earth that Robert Lee Johnson from Hartsville, SC would ever vote for another “colored” cause he ain’t real sure about the one we got now in Washington.

I will stick by my prediction, Trump is no longer the big bad wolf. Sure, he might be a king maker in my state of South Carolina and other shithole states in the southeast and southwest but that won’t be enough to create a red tide, besides the GOP is fractured and Trump doesn’t have it in his DNA to unify anything let alone the GOP. His ego won’t let him.

He and Hannity will work hard over the next year keeping Trump in front of his horde of adoring fans. He will hold ego rallies for his throng of 70-year-old, chain smoking rednecks selling them hats and t-shirts made in China but he no longer speaks for this country, he is no longer the orange face of this country, and he no longer represents the viewpoint of the majority of Americans.

My days of worrying about Trump are over. My days of writing about him are quickly coming to close as well. His story, for me and my family, has ended. We learned a lot from this sad chapter, and at the end of the day that’s what his four years were a sad, and hateful chapter in American history.

Good write up, very funny! I’m going to go with you on this in the hopes that you’re right! I’d love to leave the Pillsbury Doughnut Boy in the rear-view mirror. Another factor could be (and probably will be) the legal battles he has coming up very soon. Taxes, his “charities”, his latest ripoff collecting cash to fight the election results (people are already asking for their money back) and of course, his rape victims will now be able to press their cases. These could be reasons he has to drop out of site. But then again, if he does his boss Vladimir may make him jump back in lest he release the pee-pee tape!

I love your style and it’s oh so true, but I have my doubts of trump being gone from the scene. I’m in Fla. and believe me, there are plenty of redneck good old boys here waving their bibles around.

When you have a country with this much stupidity, ignorance, lack of sophistication and religious nonsense, things can only go from bad to worse.

    • No, he will make some noise for a little while. He will attempt to influence Trumpy districts and states but the GOP influencers (donors and pollsters) have done the math and the conclusion is the same, Trump is toxic, and he is a loser. Redneck good old boys waving bibles don’t write $100,000 checks to candidates and more importantly don’t vote for candidates that don’t look them, smell like them, or think like them.

  5. Me too. I’m done with the endless videos of the asshole being on every screen in my house. I now have my dinner, retire to the recliner, switch on the TV and watch ‘The Wheel and Jeopardy’. Then I tune in to YouTube and try to find something entertaining or intelligent. You would be amazed by all the ways to stir fry bok choy and chicken strips or the number of operas with subscripts or all the reruns of Opie Gets His First Piece. ( Don’t criticize my viewing choices…..after 4 years of trump, I would watch “Naughty Democrats Playing Strip Poker.”

It’s no wonder the inbreds love Trump… He told Howard Stern that his daughter was a “pretty nice piece of ass.”
