About ends and beginnings blog

I am a frustrated writer and poet waiting to be discovered. A stand-up philosopher performing on a street corner near you. A Christian with questions but I don’t want to hear your answers. A Buddhist with a bumper sticker on my truck to prove it. A collector of quotes. A grower of lettuce. The Patron Saint of earthworms who name their children after me. A cyclist whose big ass strains the seams of his Lycra bibs. I am American by birth, Southern by the grace of God. My goal in life is to leave an imprint on the lives of the people I love not a footprint on the earth. I am a son, a husband, a father composed of 65%-Oxygen, 18%-Carbon, 10%-Hydrogen, 3%-Nitrogen, 3%-Diet Coke and 1%-Oreo.

A sad ending

In my small southern city, the highest rung on the social ladder is a family with an old pedigree and money. The second rung is a family with an old pedigree but no money. The third rung is families with … Continue reading

Charlie Watts

One of my top five favorite songs in the whole world is Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones. The second you hear Keith Richards’ eerie opening guitar riff you know exactly what the song is. It is a dramatic beginning, subtle, with simple … Continue reading

American Values

The vast majority of the western world has learned its history and formed its opinions of the Middle East from a book of fables, the Bible and Hollywood movies. You see, Charlton Heston really isn’t Moses and Elizabeth Taylor isn’t … Continue reading

Death and Taxes

“For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.” – John 3:20 I hate giving Donald J. Trump any oxygen but this releasing his tax return thing continues to … Continue reading

My response to Sen. Tim Scott

This is my response to your staff’s email to me. Might I suggest that when they cut and paste a response to use the same size font so it doesn’t look like they are cutting and pasting. 1.       “I know … Continue reading
