I read a number of post on this weird little universe called WordPress. I find that I am drawn more to personal stories rather than rants about wrongs that aren’t righted, or slights that need to be addressed. I like to read post from people who recognize issues, maybe issues they are dealing with or issues that affect a larger community or the world. Rather than vent about it, they share positive insight and personal perspective that I can understand and relate too. What I am looking for, after they have acknowledged the issue, is how they propose to move the story forward. It could be their story, it could be our story, but I want to read their take, their position on solving or addressing the issue or issues at hand.
Solutions are not always available. Sometimes things are what they are, attitudes are what they are, opinions are what they are, but those positions should never be a story stopper. Reading a post that is basically a “Nobody likes me, Everybody hates me, Guess I’ll just go outside and eat a bunch of worms…….” tirade is a buzz kill. But damn, there sure seems to be a lot of you out there.
One of my favorite bloggers to read is Gina Marie. She writes personally, from the heart, about topics and issues that for some of us, would be road blocks to our happiness and ends to our stories. In her blog Gina shares her thoughts, she shares the obstacles she is dealing with and how she plans to move her story forward beyond the hurdles she is facing. She is a wonderful writer and I bet a better person.
Here’s my point, we all, at times, give-up too quickly on our stories. A little adversity, strong winds and dark clouds, or a slight from a friend and we look like turtles retreating back into our shells. Tell your story, live your life not the life of the cool kids, or the neighbor in designer threads and a new Lexus, live your story. It really is the only story worth telling and living.
I like that you like those kinds of posts that you do!

I think you are a very wise (beyond your years) and thoughtful human being. And from what little I can see easier to look at than I am (that means pretty) 🙂

I just checked out Gina Marie’s blog and you are absolutely right. She has a beautiful way with words. I am now following her. I am also in full agreement with you on the importance of telling our stories and living them. Thank you for introducing me to Gina Marie’s blog.

I have to admit……today has been a rough day for me……work has had me deep in “stuff” and the clock has been inching along at a snail’s pace (probably because I have a massage scheduled tonight!). I share that because I have been TOTALLY out of the loop with my blog routine. So, when I saw Delvingn2theshadows comment on my blog and mention this blog, I was like “WHAT?????”. I am completely honored by this post and the sentiments you shared, truly! As I hit your blog almost everyday and enjoy it to my core, I am humbled by this post more than I can expess. Thank you. I write more often to get release emotions that are so large within me, and at times to vent so I don’t kill anyone, and am so surprised and happy when others find value in my words as well. Thank you very much. 🙂

Ms. Gina it is my honor. I have always admired your writing. I am glad I was smart enough (for the ever so fleeting moments I have) to work you in to this post as the perfect example of what I enjoy reading. Enjoy the massage, I on the other hand am going to over pay for a steak dinner tonight to prove my love to a women that has put up with my shit for 31 years today. I am confident that what I pay isn’t going to cover all of her expense, I will still owe her a lot more. I hope I generate a little traffic for you. You deserve the attention. Take care

I completely agree with you and loved reading what you had to say. Early on I decided to make “moving forward” one of my categories, and I try to write about my struggles in doing just that. Those posts tend to be my most popular as well as my personal favorites. I’ve gained so much in writing with that attitude and garnering the feedback and support from other bloggers who share my struggles in one way or the other. Blogging has turned out to be so much more than I expected.

Moving the story forward…does definitely seem like the best way one can explore further the varied experiences that one goes through. Although skimming the surface is always easier, probably diving deeper is a bigger but essentially a most rewarding way we can live our lives. Personally, I feel it is a little scary initially, but speaking from the heart can melt all boundaries in a matter of seconds.
