Babes, Boobs, Burgers and Beers

Babe and burger

“Yeah, I don’t see you reaching the babes boobs burgers beer audience.” – Belinda O

In my part of the world, Hardee’s, an American-based fast-food restaurant chain, has been using women in bikinis for the last two years or so to sale cheeseburgers. Here is the thing, I like cheeseburgers, I like babes in bikinis, I like boobs, I like beer but I am not buying any product because of the lovely young lady pictured above. I am happy for her if this is the line of work she wants to do, but I am still not buying their burgers because of her.

I guess there is a segment of the male population that perks-up (thought about this later no pun intended) when they see this Hardee’s commercial during The Simpsons or Family Guy. But when they enter the restaurant (and I use the term very loosely) and order the 1/2lb. charbroiled 100% Black Angus beef patty, American cheese, tomato, lettuce, red onion, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard and dill pickles, now served on a Fresh Baked Bun are they disappointed to discover that this lovely young lady isn’t standing behind the counter to serve them or that no matter how many burgers they eat from Hardee’s they don’t stand a chance in hell of finding let alone dating this women or any other women that remotely looks like her. I guess not, the ads still air and the burgers keep selling.

Yes, I freely admit, seeing babes, boobs, burgers and beers will catch my attention but what is the message Hardee’s and other companies that use this type of “sex-appeal” to sale their products sending to their female employees, customers, my wife, my daughters, my sisters even my mother. Eat our burgers and look like this? You will look more sexy with burger grease dripping down your arm? More like, this is how bad we want to sell our products to Men 18-24. So bad we will put someone’s daughter, maybe yours, in a bikini to sale you a burger or a beer. Sorry, it doesn’t work for me. I appreciate the view not so much the message.

I said I was going to write a testosterone fueled Babes, Boobs, Burgers and Beers post. As a husband, father, son and brother this is exactly the direction I knew it would end up taking when I started. Oh well, I tried Belinda O, I tried.

  1. LOL Maybe there’s the subliminal message of you can eat this, and still look like her that they are hoping the female sector will pick up. 😉 Fun post! G-uno

LoL, this is funny. Interestingly such-sex appeal advertising are among the stuff we would study in design school.
Methinks the message in their advert is even if you buy and eat our burgers time and time again, you will still be fit for babes, bikinis and boobs.

PS: I wonder why really you buy their burger. maybe there is the true reason to inspire a different advert from Hardee

    • I guess this prove that I am truly getting old but I would rather their product look like the advertisement when I buy it than having babes and boobs sell it to me. The burger you see on television never looks like the burger you buy. That is the true false advertising in my gray old mind 🙂 Thanks for reading and taking the time to share your thoughts.
