I’m leaving on a jet plane……

“Getting ready for my big foreign trip. Will be strongly protecting American interests – that’s what I like to do!” – Donald J. Trump tweet 5-19-17

Yes sir I feel better. Donald J. Trump is headed for a whirlwind tour of the middle east and points beyond and he will “….be strongly protecting American interests – that’s what I like to do!” Strongly! Bigly! He is such a silly man, but this silly man has had a rough two weeks. I bet he won’t walk but run (maybe waddle) to board Air Force One so he can get the hell out of here for a little while.

It will be interesting to see how Trump reacts on this trip. His braggadocios demeanor is based on his ability to control his surroundings and he will not be in control over the next few days. Where he sits, where he stands, where he goes, what he eats will be dictated by someone else. I would suspect what we will see is a more subdued Trump, similar to the man we saw on television meeting with President Obama after the election.

Among those that know him, it has been mentioned on more than one occasion that Trump hates to travel. He doesn’t like being away from the things and environments that he has created and is comfortable with. He is like any other 70-year-old man, set in his ways. But unlike the rest of us if The Donald wants to fly to California to eat an In-N-Out Burger for lunch but sleep in his own bed in New York, he can and he does.

Back in 2014 Trump tweeted “Tell Saudi Arabia and others that we want (demand!) free oil for the next ten years or we will not protect their private Boeing 747s. Pay up!” I feel pretty confident he won’t bring this up. Hopefully he knows this kind of shit only sounds good at a Trump Ego Rally spewed to a football field full of Deplorabes. I hope, I pray he has the common sense to keep his tongue zipped up tight and his smart phone turned off but we will see. We certainly have been disappointed before. Looking and acting Presidential has not, to date, been his forte. Truly, this is his opportunity and maybe his last.

  3. Shall we pray for a successful Trump adventure? Nah, let’s pray instead that his cadre of supporters here at home (the number is dwindling) see their POTUS for what he truly is_ _ _ _ _ _.(you fill in the blanks) and that he doesn’t start WW3 while telling the Arabs how to run their world.

I frankly am having quite a difficult time trying to understand the reasoning behind the itinerary. Saudi and Israel? excuse me? Without those diplomatic id’s I wonder if he knew one can not go into one after having been a guest of the other? No matter what he says to one, the other shall immediately take offense and hold him just a little bit more contempt. What will ultimately be the way these foreign countries see us in America? I shudder to think!

Putting aside the “political” complexities that underlie this trip, what really galls me is how tRump will undoubtedly “turn on the charm” and say whatever his immediate audience wants to hear … and then he’ll come back home (or tweet!) about how he (and he alone) advanced and improved international relationships with these significant countries/leaders.

And his “deplorables” will eat it up.
