“A black church in Mississippi was burned and vandalized with pro-Donald Trump graffiti late Tuesday.
Authorities responded to the fire at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, Mississippi, Tuesday night. Delta Daily News reports that the majority of the damage was to the main sanctuary and there were no reported injuries. Someone had spray-painted the words “Vote Trump” along the side of the building.
A woman at the nearby Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church told The Huffington Post that Hopewell is a historically black church. She said the community is in shock over what happened.
The Greenville Police Department declined to comment, directing inquiries to the mayor’s office. No one at the mayor’s office was immediately available to comment.
The FBI told The Clarion-Ledger, a Mississippi newspaper, that it is aware of the situation and is investigating to “determine if any civil rights crimes were committed.”
There is already a GoFundMe page raising money to repair the church. GoFundMe told HuffPost it is working with the organizer of the page and will only release the funds to the church directly.” – The Huffington Post
KKK’s official newspaper supports Donald Trump for president
“While Trump wants to make America great again, we have to ask ourselves, ‘What made America great in the first place? The short answer to that is simple. America was great not because of what our forefathers did — but because of who our forefathers were. America was founded as a White Christian Republic. And as a White Christian Republic it became great.” – the Crusader one of the most prominent newspapers of the Ku Klux Klan
Forget civil rights. We have here arson and malicious destruction. One hopes the perpetrators will meet justice.

Reminds me of the old-folks’-home under construction that got burned during last year’s Baltimore “uprising.” That was a black church, also.

Those intent on mayhem don’t necessarily care much about color.

Well not to put the cart before the horse but I would bet you a dollar to a donut that in this case the mayhem was all about color.

I have to concede that.

Believe me, this is not something that I want to be right about. But I have faced my own intimidation simply because I have a Hillary sticker on my car, happened again today at the Home Depot. A redneck in a pickup truck took the time to circle the parking lot and come back by me to call me a “faggot”.

This is utterly sickening. My heart is hurting.

So sad. What is even worse is to read the comments from Trump supporters who are convinced this was staged by Hillary supporters.

I wish this had never happened so I didn’t have to re-post this, but it is important that people know the kind of hate that has arisen in recent years. I sincerely hope we can get past this period in U.S. history with some hope & compassion still intact … ❤ ❤ ❤
Peace, love & justice for all,
Sherrie

And my big brother marched with MLK through the south why? My first cousin died while trying to register voters in Mississippi why? I worked for the NAACP why? This crap was supposed to have been over and done donkey’s years ago! Makes me wonder why in hades I bothered trying to promote any change in racial attitudes! I am so ashamed of the America we have become this year.

You did it because it was the right thing to do! I was explaining something to a woman from Venezuela the other day & I suddenly started telling her about the Pilgrims & how extremely religiously conservative they were. It seems to me that those elements have made it all the way down to today in the form of uneducated bigots who want to feel like they are better than SOMEONE in this country! They want to blame life’s problems on someone else. Now we have leaders doing this, they are getting the message that it’s ok to be rude, ignorant racists. It’s ok to hurt those different from you.
We must go high when they go low, as Michelle Obama says. We must show them that there is a proper way to be a human being. We are humanists, which does not exclude spirituality, but they are NOT Christians!

Sherrie

I couldn’t hit the “like” button on your post because it felt as if doing so meant I liked that racist photo. I’m glad you posted this, though. People need to be aware and beware!
