Walking on Water or Sinking in the Mud

This is a special time of the year in the life of a Christian, Easter the recognition of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. No matter what you think or believe about all the other dogma that surrounds this faith, for Christian’s this one is a biggie, the one you better believe, the one you have bet your eternal life on. The story of the virgin birth or three wise men doesn’t compare with the feat of being dead, leaving your tomb and reappearing to your disciples and others. How about appearing to a Jewish man who was persecuting your followers on the road to Damascus 30 years after your death.

For me Jesus’s message, His teachings, what He expected of Himself and others is what I base my faith on. Is that going to get me to heaven? Depends on who you ask and what you define as heaven, but as I state in my “About” page, I am a Christian (as well as a Buddhist) with questions but I don’t want to hear your answers. I am not an asshole about this I have just heard too many answers from to many “good” Christians and sadly most offer their answers without even knowing the questions.

“The miracle is not to walk on water. The miracle is to walk on the green earth, dwelling deeply in the present moment and feeling truly alive.” – Thich Nhat Hanh

For me there are too many Christians out there who believe they walk on water because of their faith. I think if they look a little closer they will find out they are actually walking on the backs of others, the backs of people they should be helping rather judging.

This Easter, I hope more of you will experience the miracle it is to walk on our green earth and rather than living a life you think will get you into heaven, living a life that brings heaven and the Kingdom of God here today for everyone to experience.

About ends and beginnings blog

I am a frustrated writer and poet waiting to be discovered. A stand-up philosopher performing on a street corner near you. A Christian with questions but I don’t want to hear your answers. A Buddhist with a bumper sticker on my truck to prove it. A collector of quotes. A grower of lettuce. The Patron Saint of earthworms who name their children after me. A cyclist whose big ass strains the seams of his Lycra bibs. I am American by birth, Southern by the grace of God. My goal in life is to leave an imprint on the lives of the people I love not a footprint on the earth. I am a son, a husband, a father composed of 65%-Oxygen, 18%-Carbon, 10%-Hydrogen, 3%-Nitrogen, 3%-Diet Coke and 1%-Oreo.

  3. “…Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Yes, we should be creating God’s kingdom here on earth instead of waiting to get beamed up to heaven. I think that’s how we get beamed up. It’s nice to meet a Christian Buddhist. I feel like one.

  4. It is interesting reading your ‘About’ and a few of your blogs to determine who the person is that liked one of our blogs. I wish you gave more detail and a photo, but it was nice meeting you. Thanks and blessings.
