Donald Trump-taking the “fun” out of dysfunction

dysfunction – 1. impaired or abnormal functioning, 2. abnormal or unhealthy interpersonal behavior or interaction within a group

“Our” Presidents tweets over the last ten hours;

1.- “The Amazon Washington Post fabricated the facts on my ending massive, dangerous, and wasteful payments to Syrian rebels fighting Assad”

2.- “So many stories about me in the @washingtonpost are Fake News. They are as bad as ratings challenged @CNN. Lobbyist for Amazon and taxes?”

3.- “Is Fake News Washington Post being used as a lobbyist weapon against Congress to keep Politicians from looking into Amazon no-tax monopoly?”

4.- “Ukrainian efforts to sabotage Trump campaign – “quietly working to boost Clinton.” So where is the investigation A.G. @seanhannity”

5.- “Attorney General Jeff Sessions has taken a VERY weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes (where are E-mails & DNC server) & Intel leakers!”

6.- “Problem is that the acting head of the FBI & the person in charge of the Hillary investigation, Andrew McCabe, got $700,000 from H for wife!”

7.- “Big day for HealthCare. After 7 years of talking, we will soon see whether or not Republicans are willing to step up to the plate!”

8.- “ObamaCare is torturing the American People.The Democrats have fooled the people long enough. Repeal or Repeal & Replace! I have pen in hand.”

9.- “So great that John McCain is coming back to vote. Brave – American hero! Thank you John.”

10.- “Jared Kushner did very well yesterday in proving he did not collude with the Russians. Witch Hunt. Next up, 11 year old Barron Trump!”

Why did I offer this to you this morning for your reading pleasure? I wanted you to see what it means to take the “fun” out of dysfunction. But here is the real “fun” part, 65% of us read these tweets and think this cat needs some Ritalin or Adderall, while 35% of you wave your red baseball caps in the air and say “Give ’em hell Donald”, “Lock her up” or my favorite “Drain the swamp”.

I wrote many months ago that The Donald thrives on chaos, misdirection, and dysfunction. It is how you operate when you are in over your head and have no plan. It is a sink or swim mentality, when you swim you look like the smartest man in the world and when you sink you know their is a life vest, with just your name on it, to keep your head above water, think Daddy’s money, Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, and Russian Rubles.

This guy is less than seven months on the job and he has not come close to filling key positions in his administration. And the people he has working on behalf of the American people, if they haven’t been fired or quit already, he routinely throws them under the bus, contradicts their work, their diplomatic positions or simply ties their hands with dumbass tweets. Chaos, misdirection, and dysfunction.

Trump spoke at the national Boy Scouts Jamboree yesterday and used the occasion to talk about his favorite subjects other than himself after clearly stating “Who the hell wants to speak about politics when I’m in front of the Boy Scouts?”;

  1. His big election win.
  2. Fake news.
  3. Republicans in Congress.
  4. Democratic obstructions.
  5. President Obama.
  6. Hillary Clinton.
  7. Obamacare.
  8. And for whatever reason, a cocktail party conversation he had many years ago with the real estate developer William Levitt, a man known for ensuring that his housing properties were sold only to whites and non-Jews. Per The Donald, Levitt “went personally bankrupt, and he was now much older. And I saw him at a cocktail party, and it was very sad because the hottest people in New York were at this party”. We are still unsure what the point of this story was.

This dysfunctional tirade forced the Boy Scouts to release the following statement; “The Boy Scouts of America is wholly non-partisan and does not promote any one position, product, service, political candidate or philosophy. The invitation for the sitting U.S. President to visit the National Jamboree is a long-standing tradition and is in no way an endorsement of any political party or specific policies.”

“Our” man Donald, taking the “fun” out of dysfunction.

“I’m very concerned about the continuing drama, chaos, instability and dysfunction coming out of the White House. You know, I’ve come to expect a certain amount of dysfunction in government but they have taken the fun out of dysfunction. This is really tough, and …this is not easy for any of us.” – Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.) on MSNBC’s Morning Joe 7-25-17

About ends and beginnings blog

I am a frustrated writer and poet waiting to be discovered. A stand-up philosopher performing on a street corner near you. A Christian with questions but I don’t want to hear your answers. A Buddhist with a bumper sticker on my truck to prove it. A collector of quotes. A grower of lettuce. The Patron Saint of earthworms who name their children after me. A cyclist whose big ass strains the seams of his Lycra bibs. I am American by birth, Southern by the grace of God. My goal in life is to leave an imprint on the lives of the people I love not a footprint on the earth. 1. It’s insanity and frankly, embarrassing. I think Spicer must’ve felt relieved to have a way out from the chaos.

  2. The Boy Scouts should have released this statement: “HUH?”

  3. Regarding Topic 8: I got the message that William Levitt is a loser. The Don can’t help digging at people whenever he gets the chance. Sad.

  4. At least the Boy Scouts of America had enough balls (collectively about 80,000) to assert its non-partisan position. Trump played to a captive audience, literally, and he loved it. Can anyone remember other youth who were indoctrinated by a despot? Think back to 1938. I believe this is about the lowest the tRump has stooped. Next he’ll be rallying for Trumpeteers at the day care center.

    The root of “dysfunction” isn’t “fun,” but “funk.”

    I swear, if it wasn’t illegal, not to mention immoral, I would follow my grandpappy’s assertion of “if it looks like a revenuer or a damned politican..just shoot first and ask questions later”
