The legacy of a Trump coffee mug

Trump coffee mug

This morning “our” President re-tweeted these three headlines to his 43.6 followers from Jayda Fransen;

  1. Islamist mob pushes teenage boy off roof and beats him to death!
  2. Muslim Destroys a Statue of Virgin Mary!
  3. Muslim migrant beats up Dutch boy on crutches!

Now here is the thing, Jayda Fransen is a British, Christian bully who walks around Muslim neighborhoods in London carrying a large Christian cross. She attempts to draw Muslims into verbal battles or provoke aggressive behavior so she can post the video on her organizations, Britain First, webpage. Britain First operates under the “Christian” guise that The rapid growth of militant Islam is leading to the suppression of women, freedom of speech and racist attacks” in Europe, and specifically Great Britain. Sound familiar?

The problem with these sensational headlines is there is no context. Sure there is a video, a video of brown people who may or may not be Muslim but the issue is simply this, what is the point “our” President is trying to get across by posting videos from an irrational,  Islamophobic, nut job from Great Britain? Want to guess? How about that he is a simple-minded, thin-skinned man without a plan or a clue who loves to whip his 35% deplorable base into a blood thirsty feeding frenzy. Why? Because that ladies and gentlemen is all he’s got.

pinion writer for The Washington Post wrote yesterday that “The Trump administration’s approach to governance is that of a bratty toddler confronting a neat stack of blocks: Knock it down and scatter the pieces.” He continues; “This is not the systematic move toward small government that conservatives have long sought. It’s a lurch toward bad government, inadequate government, incompetent government. In some cases, it’s driven by spite; in others, by sheer cluelessness. Ultimately, we will all pay a price for Trump’s nihilism.”

Nihilism is a great word to describe the actions or inaction’s of “our” President.

Nihilism is defined as;

  1. total rejection of established laws and institutions.
  2. anarchy, terrorism, or other revolutionary activity.
  3. total and absolute destructiveness, especially toward the world at large and including oneself.

In short chaos and Trump is the master of chaos simply for the sake of creating it for his own moronic, juvenile pleasure and amusement, because that is what leadership looks like to him.

Richard Cohen, writing for RealClear Politics sums up the one year old (no pun intended) “Trump” age best for me; “Trump has made us a meaner, smaller people. He tweets the language of the school yard. It is full of resentment and bravado. He asks nothing of us. Instead, he validates meanness, opportunism and prejudice.”

There is no way the rest of us can save or salvage Trump’s 35% base. We can only hope they die peacefully of old age in Florida and that their reproduction rate is stunted and their arteries clog over the next 10 years by their visits to the endless buffet at Golden Corral. For the rest of us, the 65%, the job of rebuilding this country will fall on our shoulders. It will be a monumental task to erase the “meanness, opportunism and prejudice” Trump has left us with but I am confident we can and we will.

Trump fancies himself a leader, a President worthy of Mount Rushmore but as Cohen notes “Donald Trump, a mess of a man but brimming with self-regard, probably already sees himself up there with Washington, Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt and Lincoln. It won’t happen. Instead, he’d be lucky if he can get his face on a mug in the gift shop” and that is all the legacy he deserves, the legacy of a Trump coffee mug.

  1. Nothing I can add to this. The rebuilding process can’t start soon enough.

    Again, see? None of this is anti-Trump, either.

    Part of his problem is the fact he was born to a wealthy family that never expected much of him in the way of controlling himself or emotional development. He has lived his whole life in situations where no one could tell him he was wrong or even tell him no. He never learned to compromise or see things from another’s view. He grew up and all through his life thinking he was special, the only thing that mattered what what he said , thought, believed, or insisted on. He is a sad case. It is a waste. However I withhold sympathy because he has more chances than any of us and he made himself what he is. He revels in it as you wrote. So I can not forgive, forget, nor accept him and his actions. Hugs

  4. The real problem isn’t even Trump; it’s the countless deplorables who wanted a train wreck in office. THEY are going to be a damned tough problem to solve.

    You misunderstand Donald Trump he believes what he says fervently and he believes that many Americans also believe it, and he is right on both those counts. Secondly this is nothing to do with ignorance ,some of the cleverest men belong to ISIS , cleverness can take almost any opinion. These opinions are not new they are a basic trait of the tribal nature of Man and stretch back through all recorded history. We may deny them in ourselves but who does not put his family and friends first? Who is not concerned with their job prospects , their health care, there lifestyle?

    Not in any way but we need to understand Mr Trump and those like him. There are plenty of people like him who believe in protectionism. Protectionism is part of human nature and we all have inherited its due to our evolutionary background.Europe is full of potential sympathisers for Mr Trumps beliefs and is swinging to the right . Ask yourself how would you feel if a million desperate immigrants wished to enter America ? I dislike the tendency bloggers have of calling anyone ignorant who they don’t agree with. It implies the intelligent can only possibly think one way.

    Intelligence or better put IQ rating is not confined to any group , it has no sexual preferences and is sprinkled in the form of a bell curve across the human race. It has nothing to do with moral character and it is not a way of reforming the world. I suspect what you mean by ignorance is lack of knowledge. My IQ is about 105 slightly above average but it means there is much that I cannot grasp. For instance I would not be able to have a career as a particle physicist. Our quota of knowledge will depend upon our nurture , multimedia we have been exposed too what social circles we move in.
    One of the keys in your answer is ‘ it already was great ‘ which implies two facts : that America is superior to other nations (a sort of Trumpian statement) , secondly that you have a system to make America Great which is opposed to the Trump method.

    • No I actually meant what I described and how I wrote it thank you. My view, your “105 slightly above average” IQ empowers and emboldens you to critique those of us you feel may be inferior to your intellectual superiority. I also noticed on your blog you don’t take a stand or offer an opinion on anything. So you feel it is your responsibility to right the wrongs you perceive others have written about by using a lot of words, phrases, and hyperbolic statements without really saying anything relevant or constructive. Baffling the world with bullshit doesn’t move the ball forward.
